Sefi Atta became the 1st winner of the
Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa, on Saturday 5th August 2006. Here, the mother of the US-based author, Mrs Iyabo Atta, receives the $20,000 prize on her behalf. Atta won for her novel,
Everything Good Will Come. She was short-listed for this year's
Caine Prize.
